The club trip this month is at Crowders Mountain on Saturday, September 10th. Crowders Mountain is a state park located in western North Carolina. In fact, it’s not too far from South Carolina. The rock is of a quartzite that is similar to the rock found around the state. There are numerous top-roping opportunities as well as sport and trad with ratings ranging from 5.5 to 5.13.
We will be meeting at the Indian Trail Park and Ride at 6:45am to carpool from Atlanta. It is highly recommended to not bring dogs, the access trial has some exposed areas that would require lifting and passing a pup.
For those of you that would like to meet at the crag here are the coordinates and driving directions:
Take I-85 North to Exit 13 and make a right off the exit and go South. Continue straight thru the stop light where the road name will turn to Archie Whitesides Rd. Continue a couple of miles to Linwood Rd. where you will take a left and then a right into the park access. Don’t forget to fill out the climbing permit at the little box at the trail head. Climbing is free.
