There are about 40 established climbing routes at Black Mountain with very few being bolted routes. Placing additional bolts is absolutely forbidden! Top roping is generally best but there is some lead climbing available for those able to place protection. These routes range in difficulty from an easy 5.5 to extremely difficult 5.12 most are very short routes and there are an unbelievable number of places to boulder.  Many short (25-35ft)top rope climbs. Bring lots of spare webbing for topropes. Often the trees are 30-40 feet from the top of the climb, and there is no other option for anchors

The parking lot coordinates for next month’s trip, Black Mountain, TN, are
35.8678 -84.8875 (aka N 35 degrees 52’ 4” W84 degrees 53’ 15”)   One could go up I-75 N and I-40 W to Crab Orchard exit. 
However, it is 40 miles shorter and 10 minutes quicker to go up US 27 and then TN 68, according to Mapquest.
